Aviation is one of the most vital industries. The growth of this sector is also a testament to the nation’s ability to exercise and implement its plans for the diversification of the economy. With an increased interest among job seekers, naturally, the competition in this field has also increased. So if you are looking for an aviation job it is important to stand out during a job interview. Here is few common questions which is being asked in an interview and how can you answer these questions.

  • What motivated you to join the aviation industry?

The interviewer ask this question normally to know whether you will stick around for long or not. He/she wants to determine whether your attitude, expectations and ambitions match the company. So make sure to state reasons that attract the interviewer.

  • What do you know about our airline?

This is one of the most commonly asked questions in an aviation job interview. Here the interviewer wants to understand how serious you are about joining their company.

  • What can you bring to our company?

This question poses the perfect opportunity for you to share what you can offer to the company that other candidates can’t. Your answer should emphasize on facts that make you an ideal candidate for the job. For that, you need to first figure out skills and qualities the employer is looking for in addition to qualifications and experience.

  • Please tell me about yourself

This question is one of the most frequently asked questions. You have to be very careful on how you answer this question because your answer here sets the tone for the rest of the interview. The right approach to this is to discuss your key strengths and how they relate to the job. Talk about a few of your accomplishments.

  • Why should we hire you?

This is a very common question that is asked in almost every interview. Discuss what makes you stand out from the crowd and show them how you can help advance their company. Remember to be specific.

  • What is your greatest strength?

This could be a very simple question if you are prepared for it. You just have to talk about the strengths that you know would be of value to the company. Emphasize the strengths you have that are crucial to the position. Do not try to mention things you cannot illustrate with a brief example and do not mention the strengths that aren’t relevant to the job at hand.

  • What are your weaknesses?

Turn this question into a strength question in disguise. For instance, say something like “I do not like not being challenged at work” or you could mention a weakness that has nothing to do with the job and that you can overcome with training. This way, you end up turning this potentially tricky question into a positive.

  • What sort of salary are you looking for?

Note that whenever you are going for an interview, this question may be asked. Before going, try to find out what the average salary for someone holding that position in that industry is paid. This would help prepare you for what is in front of you. Do not forget that this is only an interview and you haven’t been offered the job, so do not go on negotiating. Just state something within the range you have researched and move on.

  • How do you respond to working under pressure?

The essence of this question is to test your composure, ability to solve problems and staying true to the task, even in unfavorable conditions. Give an example of a time where you were faced with a challenge and what you did to remedy the situation. In the process, highlight how you were calm and in control till everything was okay.
